TAWESCO opens training centre for welders

It will be used to train both our internal employees and students who will already have the necessary skills for practice during their schooling. Up to a hundred welders a year go through the training centre. We will reimburse up to 20 000 crowns for those interested in working with us to obtain a welding certificate.

While there were over 15 000 welders registered in the Czech Republic in 2015, only 10 386 will remain in the trade in 2023. At the same time, the share of domestic workers is declining - in 2010, they accounted for 91% of welders, while their representation will drop to 78.4% in 2023 (Data source: Czech Welding Society ANB). This makes welding a key skill for TAWESCO, which presses and welds parts for the automotive, agricultural, forestry and material handling industries.
The industry is increasingly using robotics, but at the same time there are still welding jobs that even the most sophisticated robot cannot do. Highly skilled workers are needed for both. In fact, it is thanks to the quality of its work that TAWESCO supplies parts to global brands such as John Deere, Claas, Still, Fenwick and also to the neighbouring Tatra in the field of manual welding.

"My colleagues and I first talked about the training centre several years ago. Now is the right time to open it. It will allow our employees to learn about the latest trends in manual welding. At the same time, students from secondary schools and apprenticeships come to us for training. We want to show them that welding is a highly skilled activity in which they can learn and improve throughout their lives," said TAWESCO CEO Margita Rejchrtová.
The area dedicated to welding training is equipped with workshop tables, modern welding machines and facilities for a certified instructor. This is Michal Zahradník, who has been with the company since 2017 and is one of the top experts in the field.
"We want our welders not to be limited to just one type of welding or to a narrow range of jobs. The training at the training centre will allow us to use our employees more flexibly and thus streamline the production of parts for companies mainly in the fields of agricultural, forestry and handling technology," says Michal Zahradník.
The training centre also cooperates with the welding school in Studénka. "If someone is interested in working for us as a welder but does not have the necessary licence, they can take a course in Studénka to obtain it. We will pay for the course, which is worth about CZK 20 000. He will then learn other advanced skills at our company," adds Margita Rejchrtová.

A report about the welding school in TAWESCO was filmed and aired in the programme Události v regionech - you can watch the whole report in the video here.
