We are on the way to using greener steel
At Tawesco in Kopřivnice, we were one of the first in Europe to test South Korean steel, the production of which has succeeded in reducing carbon dioxide production by 20 percent. The 3-ton coil arrived from Hyundai Steel, with which we concluded a memorandum of cooperation last year.

We tested the reduced steel in production and in our laboratories, where colleagues from the Korean steel mill and representatives from Hyundai Steel's Slovakian branch were present.
"We needed to verify that the mechanical and chemical properties and welding parameters were at least on a par with conventional steel. We are so pleased that the reduced steel will become part of our offer to customers," comments Margita Rejchrtová, TAWESCO's CEO, on the results.
"This is the first step towards standardising this type of steel in production. The road to pure green steel is still long. I see it as the role of the market leaders, of which TAWESCO is one in pressing and welding in Europe, to be the ones who help make this journey a reality," adds Margita Rejchrtová.
Our customers will soon be able to choose whether they want products made of standard steel or steel with a reduced carbon footprint.
